About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. The role will be responsible for:

  • Leading the month end general ledger close process.
  • Understand and provide explanations for monthly balance sheet and PL movements.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for local as well as for parent consolidation.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly cash flow and forecast and treasury functions.
  • Coordinate and manage the audit obligations and relationships.
  • Perform complex reconciliations and analysis of the Balance Sheet and General Ledger accounts.
  • Managing lease accounting updates in accordance with IFRS-16 requirements and twice yearly lease impairment assessments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance in relation to indirect taxation, including congestion levies, BAS, GST, FBT, Payroll tax.
  • Co-ordinating of reporting of capital projects and fixed asset accounting in accordance with internal processes and accounting policies.
  • Working with business stakeholders to ensure compliance with company accounting guides and policies, and monitoring of adherence.
  • Ensuring there are adequate systems, policies, controls and procedures in place and improve process efficiencies following systems implementations and other changes.
  • Co-ordinate lodgement of statutory
  • Co-ordination and Preparation & entry of monthly journals
  • Calculation of all statutory payments
  • Review and preparation of the quarterly group consolidation pack.
  • Monitoring completion and exceptions of the Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the year end audit.
  • Produce Statutory accounts on an annual basis.

You will be directly reporting to the Financial Controller and will work as part of the Finance leadership group as well as with stakeholders across broad aspects of the company.

The Senior Financial Accountant must also be knowledgeable in accounting standards, MS Excel, large ERP systems, tax, and GST regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Full CA/CPA qualification alongside a relevant tertiary degree in Commerce, Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Experienced (minimum 5 years) in core technical accounting roles and can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting standards. IFRS-16 experience preferred.
  • A lateral thinker who is able to work with some ambiguity in determining best approach.
  • Highly developed communicator.
  • Proficient technical aptitude with MS Excel and large ERP systems.
  • Hands-on Financial Accounting experience and ability to thrive in a change work environment.
  • Knowledge of tax & GST regulatory requirements.
